On March 24, 2017, the CHBC released its comments on the California Energy Commission's (CEC) 2017 IEPR and EPIC Investment Plan. These comments serve to inform the CEC of the importance of Power-to-Gas and its potential to enable high levels of renewable energy production while maximizing economic value and providing a large-scale, cost-effective solution for storing excess energy. On February 14, 2017, the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) released a report on the 2016 Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Ports Workshop, which was held on November 10, 2016, hosted by the Port of Los Angeles and co-sponsored by the Port of Long Beach. The report summarizes the presentations and discussions at the workshop, highlights challenges and outlines the next steps that were identified. See the CHBC report here >>

On September 8, 2016, the CHBC released its official report on its “Financing the 101st station” workshop, held on June 14-15 in Pasadena, CA. The CHBC convened 28 experts in the field who, over two days, discussed presentations and experiences related to financing, fueling station models and automotive plans for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). On August 29, 2016, the CHBC sent a letter of support for SB 1383, seeking a broadening of the definition to include renewable gas. This bill will enable the state to take urgently needed action to control short-lived climate pollutants, which will not only help mitigate climate change, but also reduce air pollution and improve public health. On July 1, 2016 the CHBC sent a letter of support for the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) since it is being actively considered in state policy circles. CHBC also signed on to CalSTART's letter of support that featured almost 60 endorsing organzations and encouraged all CHBC members to do the same. See CHBC's letter here >>

On May 25, 2016 the CHBC has submitted a letter of support AB1657 (O'Donnell) which would direct cap-and-trade funding to California's public ports. CHBC requsted clarification on the definition of zero and near-zero emissions of Greenhouse Gases. See CHBC's letter here >>

On May 18, 2016, the CHBC has submitted a letter of support, if amended, for SB 1043 (Allen) which would direct the California Air Resources Board to study and develop recommendations to promote the expanded use of biogas and renewable gases. See CHBC's letter here >>

On March 31, 2016, the CHBC has submitted a letter of support for AB 2673 (Harper) - Sales and Use Tax Exemption & Income Tax Credits for Hydrogen Refueling Station Equipment. See CHBC's letter here >>
