Sara Fitzsimon Nelson is the Policy Director for CHBC. Sara has legislative and regulatory experience with long-term care and is thrilled to chart a new path in advocating for hydrogen and fuel cell policies. In her past position as a legislative analyst, Sara conducted lobby visits at the state and federal levels, testified in committee hearings, authored advocacy and opposition letters, drafted legislation, participated in state-sponsored stakeholder groups, and led a coalition of over 20 member organizations.
Sara earned her B.A. in Criminology from Wheeling Jesuit University and her J.D. with a Concentration in Capital Lawyering (California Lobbying & Politics) from the McGeorge School of Law. While in law school, she won the Capital Lawyering Committee Hearing Competition and was named the 2019 Honoree of the Public Legal Services Society. She did a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), where she served the city of Tucson, AZ as a program developer for the mayor’s office.
